Key questions

  1. Fantastic Mr Fox is based on the Roald Dahl book of the same name. What do you know about Roald Dahl? Write an information leaflet about him. When did he live? Where did he live? Which other books did he write? Which were made into films? Where did the idea for Fantastic Mr Fox come from?

  2. Read the book ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ and write a back cover book blurb that describes the story in one paragraph.

  3. Read the synopsis for the film on page 1. How is it the same to your book blurb? How is it different?

  4. Mr Fox is described as ‘Fantastic’. Choose one word which describes:

  • -  you

  • -  your mum and dad or guardians

  • -  your best friend

  • -  your brother (if you have one)

  • -  your sister (if you have one)

  • -  your teacher!

5. Choose a Roald Dahl story that hasn’t been made into a film yet (like Esiotrot or The Twits). Draw a poster for that story as if it were a film made by you.

Does this film appeal to the viewer's reason or emotion? How does it make you feel?

How do you think the filmmakers wanted the audience to respond?
