Consider the following string of words:

buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo

Show that these five words make a sentence that is at least five-ways ambiguous, by giving five different readings of it (a reading of a sentence is a restatement of that sentence in other words, which selects out one possible meaning of the sentence). Note that the above string does not specify capitalization or punctuation – these can be set as desired, so long as a single sentence results.

Director assignment:

You job is to:
1. Provide an overview of the director’s history (a biography)
2. Provide insight into their techniques (fingerprint)
3. View a ‘key’ film and take notes
4. Go in depth on two scenes and break down key techniques at work in the scene…Show this on a document per scene…
5. You need a reflective element to the documents.
6. Provide an 8 minute presentation of the director (powerpoint) in front of the class. You must include: one of the scenes (4 min. max) and a discussion about it.
